What better way to spend a Sunday than in the company of friends or loved ones, with live jazz, brunch and fine wines? This week we have talented pianist Andrea Vicari teaming up with jazz vocalist Trudy Kerr, in a quartet playing arrangements of jazz standards from the American Songbook and the jazz canon. Joining them will be Geoff Gascoigne (previously played with Jamie Cullum) and Mat Fisher who plays regularly with Andrea in her quartet.
Andrea Vicari is a professional jazz pianist and composer and has recently appeared at The Pizza Express in Soho as well as major jazz festivals including the 2 Piano Steinway jazz festival, Ronnie Scott’s piano trio festival, Glastonbury, 3rdMaritime Silk road festival in Quanzhou, China, Liburnia jazz festival in Croatia. Andrea has played with jazz legends Eddie Harris and Art Farmer as well as young rising stars such as Yazz Ahmed Emma Rawicz. She has 8 albums in her own name and recently released ‘Xchanges’ as part of the ‘Conversations with Friends’ series of duo recordings. Recorded for the Inequation label featuring Mark Lockheart.
Trudy Kerr is renowned as one of the UK's finest jazz vocalists. Mojo Magazine says of her singing "Trudy Kerr is the genuine article - She is a Joy!" All About Jazz has described her as "100% real jazz musician with fluid phrasing and a mellifluous, warm and sensuous tone."
On a live performance you'll hear "her highly skilled nimble voice" (Steve Rubie, 606 Club, Chelsea, London) deliver a diverse repertoire that could include compositions by Chick Corea, Horace Silver, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Fats Waller, Bill Evans, Antonio Carlos Jobim and of course the Great American Songbook standards.
