What better way to spend a Sunday than in the company of friends or loved ones, with live jazz, brunch and fine wines?
This week we have the wonderful Daniel Garel and the Jazz Lions, who will be playing a varied selection of straight ahead jazz, including mellow ballads, cool Latin numbers, swinging standards and exciting bebop, as well as a few engaging originals.
Daniel is Welsh/Jamaican alto saxophonist and composer based in Reading, Berkshire. Having studied with contemporary classical composers Anna Meredith, Larry Goves and Jonathan Pitkin as well as with jazz composer and saxophonist Christine Jensen, Daniel’s music fuses improvisation with intricately constructed compositions. Receiving international acclaim for his big band arrangements, Daniel’s music has been played on Gilles Peterson’s BBC radio 6 music show, Bonobo’s NTS radio and Worldwide FM. He’s also a music programmer at the Vortex Jazz Club and has worked at the legendary British label Edition Records.
